Looks like HTC is preparing yet another 1080p display-clad smartphone for release this year. Leaked photos of what is allegedly the Butterfly S, the follow-up to the company’s first 1080p smartphone, have emerged and it seems HTC has taken some inspiration from the current flagship HTC One.

The photos, first revealed by VR-Zone, show a pair of front-facing speakers, which is one of the signatures of the HTC One. The original Butterfly, released last year, had speakers on the back, much like many other phones in the market currently. The phone will also allegedly have an UltraPixel camera like the One.

Besides these changes, the Butterfly S is very much like its predecessor. The polycarbonate body has not been changed for a One-like aluminium unibody shell and the red accents once again mirror the Butterfly’s design. Instead of the two-button navigation setup in the HTC One, the company has gone with a more conventional three-button arrangement.

The display also looks slightly bigger than the HTC One, which leads us to believe the Butterfly S will have the same 5-inch Super LCD3 panel as the original one. Other rumoured specs of the device include a Snapdragon 600 chipset – upgraded from the S4 Pro in the Butterfly – and a microSD card slot for memory expansion. The phone in the pictures is running HTC's Sense 5 UI, which has the BlinkFeed homescreen experience.

HTC is expected to announce the Butterfly S at an event on June 19, where we could also see the rumoured HTC One Mini and the T6 phablet.
