If the title got you whipping out your HTC Desire HD (the one you probably purchased from Flipkart) to update your Android, be rest assured, you’ll still be stuck on Froyo. The only change is the version of the Android OS, which will become Version 2.2.1.
The update is not all that bad though. From what we’ve heard it brings in a few tweaks and a bug fix to the current Froyo that the Desire HD is running. The performance is supposedly improved by a few notches.
The update is not too large at 40 MB and the software version of the handset is set to 1.72.405.3 along with Froyo turning 2.2.1. The Desire HD also seems to be running a bit faster after the update. In fact, the camera looks to have got the most out of this update and the HD Recording also looks improved.
For now there is no word from HTC as to when the update to Gingerbread will actually come out. Looking at the customized stuff that they have like the Sense UI and other goodies, it might take a while to bring all that to the latest Android OS.
