HTC has slashed the price of their Desire S, and the phone will now retail at INR15,990 – an all-new low. Saholic is one of the few places that are carrying the phone with this new, updated price tag. With the launch of the One X and One V and the impending release of the One S, it’s no wonder that HTC is slashing the prices of their older generation Android phones, in order to make room for the new ones. The HTC Rhyme also saw a brief price cut to  INR14,500, before it was raised again to  INR23,000. At this price point, the Desire S makes a killing and takes on the Galaxy Ace 2 and Motorola Defy Plus. Also, with a promised update to Ice Cream Sandwich, the Desire S may just be the phone to buy at  INR15,000.Updated with a new ROM

Going cheap!

The Desire S features a similar unibody aluminium construction like its elder sibling, the Sensation. It packs in a 3.7-inch Gorilla Glass display with a pretty high resolution of 848 x 480m making the text and images sharp and clear. The phone still comes with Gingerbread 2.3, but HTC have said that they will be rolling out ICS for the phone in the coming weeks. The 5MP shooter is capable of capturing video in 720p and is great for low light stills as well, thanks to the LED flash. Expect this new pricing to reflect on other online stores as well, very soon.
