Don’t be too surprised if your vegetable vendor whips out a vintage Nokia phone and runs FaceTime! Well on a serious note, we’ve seen a lot of porting stories happening. There were some that surprised us, and some that were waiting to happen. This time, we got to know about the HD2 running MeeGo.
Steven Troughton-Smith was just whiling time away till he thought of getting the HD2 to run MeeGo. He followed the instructions at MeeGo’s Wiki page and thanks to a bit of tweaking here and there, he managed to get the HD2 running MeeGo.
The phone did face a few problems with neither the Touchscreen nor the Wi-Fi working at all. But with a few updates that followed (one in which he used a different kernel), they did work albeit with some problems here and there.
The video below will show you the HD2 running the MeeGo OS. The browsing is not too smooth, more like astronauts walking on the moon. Nevertheless, it’s an effort worthy of applause. Check out his blog here.
