The Techfest was not only about robotics and other serious stuff. They also implemented music within science. Vishu Rao from the Digital Audio Processing Lab, IIT Bombay has been working for around 6 years to develop a software called SingingGuru that improvises on simple Karaoke software.
Normal Karaoke games involve singing songs by the lyrics you see on the screen. The scoring doesn’t really care much about how accurate you sing the tune. It focuses on whether you actually sang all the parts of the song. SingingGuru on the other hand, gives you an accurate result of how well you’re singing along with the song. Right from the timing of words, to the expressions involved in the song, SingingGuru captures it all.
Vishu Rao explains the difference between Karaoke and SingingGuru below.
They also have a site where you can try out SingingGuru for yourself. Click here to check it out.
