Yesterday was a big day when it came to news regarding Sony smartphones. First up, images of an upcoming handset, codenamed LT29i Hayabusa made the rounds of the tech arena and there were a few specifications that were available, courtesy of sample images that had surfaced back in April. The next big news that came from Sony was the official launch of two new smartphones, the Sony Xperia GX, a flagship model and the Xperia SX, an LTE smartphone that is headed for Japan. The news of upcoming Sony handsets have not stopped and now according to a report by it168.com, live images of another Sony handset codenamed ST26i have just surfaced.
Another Sony smartphone spotted
Nothing much can be said going just by the images, except for the fact that it features capacitive buttons at the front. However, the biggest design change of this handset that separates it from the other Sony handsets in the market is the brand ditching the green logo on the handset, something that was present on all Sony smartphones and this is the first handset to be released without the logo, ever since Sony started unveiling smartphones without the Ericsson branding.
The report also details a list of specifications that are expected to feature on the upcoming handset, ST26i. Here is a quick look at what to expect once it gets unveiled.
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
- 4-inch qHD screen with a resolution of 540×960
- 1GHz ST-Ericsson U8500 chipset
- DB8500 GPU
- 8GB of internal memory
- 512MB RAM
- HD video capable camera
- GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
- 3G:WCDMA 2100
As per the report, “Sony is apparently preparing an Android onslaught this year, as its leaked roadmap had more than 10 devices in it. If the ST26i pictured here is not some ditched prototype, it might fit somewhere in the handsets scheduled for summer launch, like the so-called Olive I or the Lotus, but as far as specs go, it's anyone's guess.”
