NBC's going the modern route of exploring alternative digital platforms for their TV shows again. In 2009, they previewed their comedy “Community” on Facebook. This time, they're giving iPad users an hour of “The Cape” a week before it premieres on television. Aaron Stotsky, president of marketing for NBC Entertainment said, “We thought engaging with DC Comics and the iPad would be a perfect way to create some pre-premiere buzz with fans who have the capacity to be ambassadors.” iPad users need to download the free DC Comics application and stream the free hour of “The Cape” between the 5th of January till the 8th. The show premieres on the 9th.
We were pretty kicked about this concept and decided to give it a go but it seems that it may not be accessible in India. Which wouldn't be a surprise knowing how notoriously protective NBC are with their digital rights. Sadly, simple IP Proxy wouldn't work because the video streams through an application. If you can find a way around this hurdle and watch “The Cape” on your iPad, do let us know how it is in the comments section below.
