Come October and the world will see the launch of the new iPhone. The iPhone 5 or the iPhone 5S, or just the new iPhone…we don’t know what its going to be called exactly, but rumour mills are already going over-board speculating the features of the new device.
So here’s a round up of some iPhone 5 rumours:
It will launch in October: This one is highly likely.According to Apple Insider, production has already begun on the smartphone. Apple manufacturing partner Pegatron has started production. Apple Insider quotes, “the sometimes-reliable DigiTimes, claim that Pegatron’s Shanghai factory has ramped up production of Apple’s newest handset and echo similar assertions made recently by Japanese Apple blog MacOtakara.
A thinner screen and bigger screen:According to a Wall Street Journal report, the next iPhone will use a new technology that makes the smartphone’s screen thinner. The report says that The technology, which integrates touch sensors into the LCD, makes it unnecessary to have a separate touch-screen layer. The absence of the layer, usually about half a millimeter thick, not only makes the whole screen thinner.
Earlier WSJ had also reported that the iPhone would have a bigger 4 inch screen compared to the 3.5 inch screen for the iPhone 4S.
Goodbye30 Pin connector:According to a Reuters report the next iPhonewill come with a 19-pin connector port at the bottom instead of the proprietary 30-pin port “to make room for the earphone moving to the bottom”. So be prepared to buy a bunch of extra accessories to connect the new iPhone with your Apple products. And no more charging your phone with your iPod charger.
Quad-core processor:There are also several reports that the Apple’s new iPhone will have a Quad-core processor, the A-6. Given that Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One already have a quad-core processor, there’s no doubt that Apple won’t catch up.
