Like it or hate it, there’s no doubt that the BlackBerry Z10 is one popular handset. When it was launched a few weeks ago, there was unparalleled attention on BlackBerry, the company and the platform. It was touted as their make or break moment.
As things stand, we know that countless (literally so, as the company has not released exact numbers) BB fans have lined up and crowded outside stores in the UK and Canada for a taste of BlackBerry 10, the new OS, which is at the moment only running on the Z10.
The BlackBerry Z10 has a 4.2-inch 720p display
Last week, we reported the price of the Z10 in the Indian grey market to be skyrocketing towards 80,000. But the latest information from our sources has led us to believe that the BlackBerry Z10 launch in India is imminent. Our sources in the grey market have informed us that the price of the handset has fallen to Rs 55,000. It would seem the decline in price will go on till the handset is launched officially.
The official price of the Z10 is expected to hover between Rs 42,000 and Rs 45,000. By then the handset should be available for around Rs 40,000 in the grey market.
Earlier this month, BlackBerry CEO announced proudly about the reception his company’s new handset is getting across the world. Thorsten Heins said, “In Canada, yesterday was the best day ever for the first day of a launch of a new BlackBerry smartphone. In fact, it was more than 50 percent better than any other launch day in our history in Canada. In the UK, we have seen close to three times our best performance ever for the first week of sales for a BlackBerry smartphone.”
The BlackBerry Z10 is the company’s first full touch-screen handset to run the new OS, BlackBerry 10, and have access to the BlackBerry World store for movies, music and TV shows, besides apps and games.
Some of the key specifications of the Z10 are:
