The latest developer preview for Android O is already here just weeks after the second one was launched at Google I/O. The images for the third developer preview are out and as always it can be flashed on supported devices which includes the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, and Nexus Player.

According to reports this update includes the final APIs for Android O, this will help developers to finalize their plans to make their apps. But since it is still a preview it will could have performance and stability issues and is not advised as a daily driver.

Surprisingly there is no OTA rolling out to beta devices this time so if you are on a previous developer preview and joined the beta program, you won’t get an immediate OTA. However it should be on its way soon.

There was a bit of confusion around the update as it was speculated that Google would place Android O as an incremental update with version number 7.2. But that wont be the case. Since the third preview contains the latest APIs, it has also revealed that Android O will officially be Android 8.0.

According to a recent report that the Pixel and Pixel XL will be the first to get the official release in August pointing out that Google is a bit early on rolling out its next big update.
