Lava has announced that it will launch a new tablet called Etab Xtron in May. It seems to be aimed at people with a budget as it costs just Rs 6,499. The tablet will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which will make the user interface lag-free and smooth. We think it'll come with the stock Jelly Bean UI along with a few unique features. This is the updated version of the Etab Xtron, which was launched in February.

The device has a 7-inch IPS display and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. It also has 1GB of RAM, so multitasking won't be that much of a problem. For storage, you get 8GB of internal memory, and you can expand that by another 32GB through a microSD card. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera, and can be connected to a TV or monitor through a HDMI port. Keeping all of this alive is a 3,700 mAh battery. As of yet, there is no word from Lava about 3G connectivity on the tablet, but support for 3G dongles might make it onto the device.

The Etab Xtron would be one of the first Indian-made tablets to run on Android 4.2

As with the previous products launched by the company under the Etab brand, the Xtron may come with pre-installed content like Merit Nation, EduKart, BIGFLIX, Hungama, Uahoy, Diamond Comics and ReadWhere.

Earlier this month, Lava launched the Etab Connect in the same price range. It costs Rs 9,499 and tablet offers 3G data connectivity for voice and video calling through a built-in SIM card slot. It is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm processor and has 512MB of RAM. The device is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.
