The major selling point of Apple’s next iPad could be its display with many hoping for their upcoming slate to feature the Retina Display technology found on Apple’s present iPhone. Many rumours of Apple launching a tablet with Retina Display properties have been doing the rounds for some time, but this is the first time that there is an image of the display. While there is no certainty that this could hold any weight, a report by MacRumors claims that a Korean forum has posted an image of the iPad 3’s display panel.

The image shows a comparison between the iPad 2’s display and the screen of the iPad 3. From the picture, we can see that the size of the display remains the same, however the only significant difference between the two panels is the configuration of the cables on the iPad 3. It is believed that the upcoming tablet from Apple will feature a resolution of 2048 x 1536. This is four times the density of pixels found on the iPad 2.

An earlier report by DigiTimes stated that Apple will use Sharp’s IGZO panels to upgrade the resolution for their upcoming slate, as opposed to IPS panels used presently on their devices. Their sources have informed them that many of Apple’s devices would be using this technology for their displays, but the iPad would be the first to receive it.
