An HTC handset, dubbed Deluxe, recently made its first appearance through a leaked image posted on Twitter. The highlighted feature of this handset was that it sports a Full HD 1080p display. It appears that the unannounced handset from HTC is going to get some competition, as a benchmark has recently surfaced on GLBenchmark, which shows an LG handset codenamed F240K sporting a similar resolution.

A report by PhoneArena states, “What's most interesting about the LG F240K is that it has a screen with resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixels. That single feature right there is enough to cement the smartphone into the high-end category, along with the HTC Droid DNA. The processor inside it is no slouch either. As revealed by the data in the benchmark, the SoC used comes with Adreno 320 graphics, which indicates that a Snapdragon S4 Pro chip is ticking inside this new, mighty LG smartphone. That is most likely the quad-core APQ8064 running at 1.5GHz.”

LG may be working on a high end smartphone

Details on this handset are slim yet, and we have to contend with the specifications mentioned above for now. Hopefully, over the course of the next few days, more details about this handset surface.

With the Mobile World Congress event being held early next year, we could expect this handset to make its official appearance then.

Another handset by HTC, the Droid DNA was recently announced for the US, and will be available for Verizon. However, a global version of the handset is believed to be in the works, and it is expected to pack more or less the same features as its US-bound sibling.

This handset features a large 5-inch 1080p display. As it is the global version of the Verizon Droid DNA, the specifications should be similar. The Verizon model comes equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and features 2GB of RAM. As far as connectivity is concerned, this handset comes equipped with LTE and NFC capabilities. However, we have to wait and watch if the global variant features the same specifications or if HTC launches it with slight modifications.

LG is on a hot streak of late as it has recently released the Optimus G, and has paired up with Google to introduce the latest Googlephone, the Nexus 4.

Over the past couple of years, LG has received some flak from its consumers as it did not dish out the Android operating system on time and consumers had to wait for a significantly long time for their handsets to be updated. However, in the recent past, LG have pulled up its socks and with the introduction of the Optimus G, the brand is offering world class technology in its handsets.

The company has lost some ground to the likes of Samsung and HTC where smartphones are concerned. However, it seems that with the introduction of these devices, it aims to catch up pretty quickly.
