Notorious hacker group, LulzSec and hactivist group, Anonymous have officially announced their partnership to take down government agencies, banks and other high profile targets. They have formed a coalition called AntiSec which is a short form of Anti Security. They are also encouraging others to join them and Anonymous in their exploits through their Twitter feed, “Put down your popcorn and grab your battleaxe. You can assist as well: http://t.co/2WuLmMQ. Don't be a potato, be a lizard.”
LulzSec and Anonymous form AntiSec
LulzSec in a statement through Pastebin said, “Together we can defend ourselves so that our privacy is not overrun by profiteering gluttons. Your hat can be white, gray or black, your skin and race are not important. If you're aware of the corruption, expose it now, in the name of Anti-Security.” The statement goes on to say that the top priority is to steal and leak any classified government information, including email spools and documentation. Their prime targets are banks and other high-ranking establishments. If anyone tries to censor their progress, they would obliterate the censor with cannon fire anointed with lizard blood.
The first target claimed by the newly formed alliance was the Serious Organized Crime Agency in the United Kingdom (SOCA) with LulzSec Twitter post reading, “Tango down – http://t.co/JhcjgO9 – in the name of #AntiSec.” The site was down as of time of reporting.
Through Twitter, LulzSec claimed that Oldschool Internet is back. In a later post they say that DDoS is their least powerful and most abundant ammunition. Also that government hacking was taking place right now behind the scenes. Anonymous also posted a tweet addressing the media stating that the two groups are not at war.
So what does this mean for the Internet as a whole? With two of the arguably best hacker groups in the world forming an alliance to take down security, this is sure to spread chaos across the globe. Please leave your reactions in the comments below.
