Micromax has teased new features for its upcoming smartphone the Canvas 4. On its Facebook, the mobile company posted an image with the caption, Slide, Swipe, Press to unlock….What’s next? referring to how the smartphone opens.

This has of course sparked speculations that the smartphone could be opened via gesture or voice-based commands. For the first time Micromax seems to be making software features the focus of its campaign.

Meawhile Twitter account MMXNewscaster has put out a leaked picture of the Canvas 4 in white. So far, Micromax’s campaign has only showcased a black smartphone.

The white coloured device looks a lot like a Samsung smartphone except that it doesn’t seem to have a physical home button.

The Canvas 4 teaser videos didn’t reveal much, other than to expect a black device, which looks like it has a 5-inch screen. The tagline for the videos was ‘Can Life be endless?’ which has sparked speculation that the Canvas 4 might also come with better battery life.

It is reasonable to expect a full-HD screen, a better camera (13 megapixels since that’s what we spotted on the ad) and perhaps more memory space starting at 16 GB, unlike the Canvas HD A116 which has 4GB memory space.

Of course, the biggest question is the price of the device. Will this be another Rs 20k and under device? If so, then Micromax could have another big winner on its hands.
