Microsoft and Facebook have teamed up to launch a 'social search' feature using Microsoft's search engine Bing. The feature will also provide web results on Facebook.
One of the features is a 'Liked Search' feature which displays links and websites which are 'Liked' by Facebook friends. The other new feature affects profile searches to make them more 'relevant'. So for instance, if someone searches for 'John Smith', the search results will show results sorted by relevance based on the number of mutual friends between the searcher and the results.
This partnership is aimed at thwarting the search giant, Google and give Microsoft Bing an upper hand.
