Windows will soon make an appearance on ARM chipsets. According to Bloomberg, the announcement will happen during the Consumer Electronics Show which will be held in January 2011. The new software will be tailored specifically for tablet computers and other handheld devices.
The new version of Windows will be a perfect way for Microsoft to eat away at the iPad’s lead in the tablet market. The new software will also work on Intel and AMD processors, but it is the first time that a full version of Windows will be available for ARM chips.
Microsoft in a statement said “ARM is an important partner for Microsoft and we deliver multiple operating systems on the company's architecture, most notably Windows Embedded and Windows Phone.”
All things said, you can expect Microsoft showing off new tablets and other devices with a full version of Windows in January next year.
