Minecraft, the indie darling that’s taken the PC world by storm will now make its way to iOS platforms, according to Gamasutra. For those who’ve been living under a rock, Minecraft is a sandbox game where players can create anything their heart desires, limited strictly by their creativity. The game was made single handedly by Swedish developer Markus Persson in Java and now enjoys a loyal fanbase of over five million subscribers.
Make whatever you want
Both the iPhone and iPad versions will not be identical ports of the PC version nor will they receive the same updates. Instead they will enjoy those features that only “make sense” on touch screen platforms. Development of the iOS port will be overseen by by Aron Neiminen, a new recruit to Persson's newly found company called Mojang. Minecraft for iOS platforms will be released sometime this year.
