The 2008-released Mirror’s Edge may see its next version coming out – this time for the Xbox One gaming platform. According to a screengrab by gamespot Asia, a second retail listing came on Amazon Italy product page for the unconfirmed Mirror’s Edge 2.
While the listing has been removed, it has led to a lot of discussion about the game release, as Xbox has announced earlier that it will release 15 exclusive titles for the One console within the first year of launch. However, in the product listing, the release date of the game was put as January 1, 2020, also showing a mocked up version of the game boxart.
All this does not lend much credibility for the game’s existence. What does lend some support is that fact that this is the second instance in less than a week that the title has turned up, with the earlier instance being reported by IGN for the Xbox 360 on Amazon Germany.
Mirror's Edge 2 may soon be headed to the Xbox One..
Mirror’s Edge, as reported earlier, made waves in its fan base for the unique first-person Parkour based gameplay. While it did not make much of an impact as a commercial success, many fans have been praying for a sequel to the game. When the earlier listing came out last week, EA went on record to tell IGN that “we appreciate fan enthusiasm for Mirror’s Edge, especially fans throughout the retail channel. This is not official EA material. We have nothing to announce at this time.”
EA Labels President Frank Gibeau had earlier been reported in 2011 indicating that Mirror’s Edge 2 could be seen with a Frostbite2 engine build. The publisher was still thinking about the title and what to do with it last year in July. The report, however, confirmed that the publishers are still keen on the title, with definite scope for a sequel.
With the E3 2013 press conference less than two weeks away, it may be that EA will make the announcement, if any, on that platform and also confirm whether the game is centered only for the Xbox One or for other platforms as well.
