With HTC set to host an event slated on September 19, the rumours of the upcoming HTC smartphone codenamed Accord are flowing thick and fast. It was earlier revealed that HTC would launch the handset with the official name HTC X8. A manual of the phone was leaked. This latest information comes via a tweet from @Football4PDA, where the tweeter has posted an image showing the entire specification list of the upcoming smartphone.
As per the post on Twitter, @Football4PDA has mentioned that there are some changes from the earlier leaked specifications. The most notable change is that it is now expected to feature a 1.2GHz dual core processor as opposed to a 1.5GHz MSM8960 dual-core processor. An addition to the specs table is that it will feature NFC capabilities as well as the Beats Audio technology, a feature on HTC handsets which sets them apart from the competition. As expected, the handset will run on Windows Phone 8, and will go toe-to-toe with the latest offerings from Nokia and Samsung.
The HTC X8 may be unveiled soon
The HTC Accord was first seen in June along with two other phones, Zenith and Rio. The Accord is the middle child of the trio, with a screen size of 4.3 inches and a 720p Super LCD 2 display. Also onboard is a 1080p capable 8MP rear as well as front facing camera along with 42Mbps HSPA+ capabilities. As for memory, it is expected that the HTC X8 will include 16GB of onboard storage and 1GB of RAM. Connectivity options on this handset include Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi and GPS.
Windows Phone 8 is the latest iteration of Microsoft’s Windows Phone that’s loosely based on Windows 8, in the sense that it shares the same kernel, APIs and drivers. Microsoft claims that with Windows Phone 8, similarities between Windows 8 and this latest smartphone OS is more than just skin deep. Microsoft states, “We’ve based the next release of Windows Phone on the rock-solid technology core of Windows 8.” Expanding on this, Joe Belfiore, Manager of Windows Phone Program, stated that Windows Phone and its older sibling will share common networking, security, media and web browser technology, and a common file system. These features will translate into better performance, more features and new opportunities for app developers and hardware makers to innovate faster.
Microsoft had officially raised the curtain on Windows Phone 8 at an event in San Francisco earlier this year and claimed that it is the most advanced mobile OS Microsoft has ever made.
Even though the Windows Phone 8 handsets have not been launched, it appears that the competition is already heating up.
