We saw INQ take the lead in making Facebook phones with a dedicated key to access the social networking site. Quite some time back, rumors doing the rounds spoke about HTC coming out with Facebook phones but things never shaped up, until now.

Wanna do the Salsa?

HTC has officially announced the Salsa and Chacha which have dedicated buttons to access Facebook. While the Salsa is a full touchscreen smartphone, the Chacha is QWERTY-based. Both these handsets have similar specs here's a list of what's common between the two:

  • 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP
  • 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • VGA front facing camera
  • Memory expandable up to 32 GB

One-two chachacha…

The Salsa and Chacha are powered by 600 MHz processors and both run on Android Froyo. The Salsa features HTC's famous Sense UI.

While these Facebook smartphones look like they’ve hogged the entire spotlight, the company's first tablet called HTC Flyer (which we’ve spoken of earlier) was also on hand at this years MWC event in Barcelona, Spain.

The HTC Flyer is powered by a 1.5 GHz processor and runs on Android Gingerbread 2.4 (that’s right 2.4 NOT 2.3). Anyway, the tablet also runs an HTC Sense UI over the Android operating system and has the following specs:

  • 7-inch touchscreen with 1024 x 600 resolution
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP
  • 5 Megapixel AF camera
  • 1.3 Megapixel front facing camera
  • Memory expandable up to 32 GB

The tablet also boasts of HTC Scribe which is a pen that comes along with the tablet. It's quite obvious that this pen helps writing in conventional style. Well it looks like the Galaxy Tab (at least the first one) could be up for some serious competition.

Flying high

HTC’s Chacha, Salsa and Flyer will be releasing in the second quarter of this year.Prices have not yet been announce.
