Activision has released a new trailer for its upcoming game – Call of Duty: Ghosts. The new trailer was showcased alongside the unveiling of Microsoft's next-gen console – the Xbox One. The trailer gives a look at the general mood of the game and gives hints about some of the motifs that will be in the game's main storyline. Check it out:
While other games in the series are known for their highly cinematic blockbuster experiences with explosions everywhere, Ghosts looks like it will have a more sombre tone. Stealth was emphasised in the trailer quite a bit, and might make it in as a viable way to complete missions rather than the standard run-and-gun affair of the previous games.
The trailer also gave us our first real look at the new game engine that developer Infinity Ward is using for the game. The new engine looks quite good, and thanks to that, Ghosts is shaping up to be the best looking Call of Duty game so far. There also seems to have been heavy motion-capture work, even on animals, judging from the quality of the animations.
Some masks use men to hide… no.. that doesn't sound right…
Call of Duty: Ghosts was officially unveiled earlier this month. Among other things, it will be the first game in the series to use an altogether different graphics engine from its predecessors. Before Ghosts, the Call of Duty games primarily used a heavily modified version of the Quake III Arena engine, but it has been modified and updated so many times that it hardly resembles the original engine.
“Everyone was expecting us to make Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the safe thing to do. But we're not resting on our laurels,” said Mark Rubin, Executive Producer, Infinity Ward. “We saw the console transition as the perfect opportunity to start a new chapter for Call of Duty. So we're building a new sub-brand, a new engine, and a lot of new ideas and experiences for our players. We can't wait to share them with our community.”
