As more and more photography enthusiasts come onboard, there’s an increase in demand for better cameras. Those using point and shoots go on to buy entry-level DSLRs. Nikon, Canon and Sony all have great value products for offer in the Indian market as well. Nikon’s D3000 was the successor to the D60, D40X, D40 and so on. The choice for many budding photographers is the D3100 and now, there’s official news of a new one coming – the D3200. The D3200 will succeed the D3100, offering some unique features for roughly the same amount of money than its predecessor. For one, there’s a 24MP sensor that’s a massive upgrade from the 14.2MP sensor used on the D3100.

The burst speed mode now goes up to 4 fps in place of the 3fps on the D3100. The sensitivity range of the D3200 is between 100 and 6400, wider than the D3100. The bundled lens is the usual 18-55mm VR one and the entire thing still weighs the same, but the size of the camera has gone up a tiny bit. One of the new features on the D3100 was the ability to shoot video – the D3200 improves on it by offering 1080p video recording at 30fps. While the product isn’t out yet and is expected to hit the US market by the end of the month, it’s a bit higher than the D3100 at $699.95 (approximately Rs. 36,000).

Nikon is also offering a $59.95 (Rs. 3,100) Wi-Fi module that will help users to transfer data remotely to Android tablets and phones, which should make sharing photos easier. The Android app should be available sometime next month and iOS support via the app will come sometime in the later half of 2012. The D3200 will also sell in two colours – one the traditional black body and red. There is no official date or pricing for the Indian market, but going by past launches, you can expect to find the D3200 arriving in the country in the next couple of months.
