Nokia, very tongue in cheekily, is taking a shot at Blackberry with its new Whatsapp on Nokia campaign. Nokia's telling users, to “Drop the Pin” (wink wink, nudge nudge), and go for a Nokia smartphone which, oh my god, has Whatsapp built into it. Of course, the hype surrounding Whatsapp concerns the fact that it's a cross platform application. That it comes built into Nokia smartphones now, is a huge selling point because iPhone users still have to pay for the app. Of course, it's free on Blackberry (how else will it compete with BBM?), as well as Android.
Nokia's urging you to drop the pin
Take a look at the ad. It's a little bit ingenius. The concept of pin drop silence has been taken into just drop the pin and get Nokia. (If I have to be a little obvious for some box dwellers, BBM works on the concept of PINs, which are Personal Identification Numbers, therefore drop the pin, aka , drop the BBM).
