Microsoft has lost nearly $900 million on Surface RT tablets but that doesn’t seem to have deterred Nokia from launching its tablet with Windows RT operating system. (Windows RT is a version of Windows 8 for mobiles devices which use ARM architecture.)

According to new leaked photos, Nokia is working on its own Windows RT tablet which could be launched in September. Chinese Web-forum Digiwo which put out pictures of a bright pink-red tablet. A green-blue coloured tablet is also likely to be launched, says the report.

In terms of specs, Nokia’s tablet could come with a 2.15 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a 10.1 inch screen with 1080p resolution, 32GB space, detachable keyboard and Micro HDMI & USB 3.0 port.

The Verge too has a report on the launch quoting sources familiar with Nokia.

The report says that the launch is likely to take place at special launch event in New York in September.

While Nokia might be betting on this new Windows RT device to break into tablet pc market, analysts and tech watchers have greeted the news with disdain.

Informa Telecoms & Media analyst Malik Saadi, told PCWorld, “First of all the OS has been a flop, there is no doubt about that. So the choice to go with Windows RT is bizarre.”

The colours and size of the device also make it look rather gaudy. A pink-red 10-inch tablet might not be something that people would like to carry around. Asthis post at BGR says:

The novel shapes and great use of eye-catching colors combine to really separate Nokia devices from the pack. But scale those designs up to a larger form factor like, say, a 10-inch tablet, and you’re left with a gaudy device that some consumers might not even feel comfortable carrying.
