The official pages of French Connection UK, and Cadbury’s Bournville were pulled of Facebook, when the two brands allegedly defied the social networking giant’s promotion clauses. Both French Connection UK (FCUK) and Cadbury’s Bournville were running contests and other promotional activities directly off their walls, which according to Facebook was a clear violation of their promotional codes.

According to rules laid down by Facebook, as far as the promotional activities are concerned the brands that have their official pages on Facebook cannot carry out their promotional activities off their wall. Facebook expects them to do so by building an external app for the same, instead. Facebook has these promotional guidelines in place to convey to the masses that it does not ‘endorse, or sponsor any brand, whatsoever.

At the time of filing this particular piece, the official pages of both Cadbury Bournville and French Connection UK were still down. Just a few days ago, Pizza Hut’s official page was pulled down in a similar fashion by Facebook, after the former failed to comply with Facebook’s revised promotional guidelines.
