At an event held recently in Mumbai, Olympus has taken the stage and launched their prized flagship, the new generation mirrorless system camera OM-D E-M5 thereby taking the forty-year legacy of the OM series to the next level. Olympus claims that the E-M5 features various, world’s first and leading technologies, such as world’s fastest auto-focus, a 5-axis image stabilization system, an electronic viewfinder with creative control and a Dust & Splash-proof design.

The brand had also raised the curtains on a wide range of compact cameras with the latest technology. The new line-up includes ‘iHS’, a technology which combines the powerful TruePic image processor (used for D-SLR) with a backlit CMOS sensor to realize intelligent, high-speed and high-sensitivity performance (this is what ‘iHS’ stands for) along with ‘Super Resolution Zoom’ doubling optical zoom magnification. The new range comprises SZ-31MR, SZ-14, SH-25MR, SP-720UZ, VR-350, VG-170, VG-160 and VG-150.

EVF with Creative Control – Olympus claims that this is the world’s first EVF with Creative Control for Easy Operation without Removing Eye from View Finder. It also has features such as controls for highlight and shadow, white balance, magnification and aspect ratio. The eye sensor over here also allows one to automatically switch between the EVF and the LCD display. It also features 120fps quick response to capture moving objects.
Fast AF Speed – Olympus states that it features the world’s fastest single AF speed even compared to professional DSLR cameras and approximately 20 percent faster than the E-P3. Along with this, it also features improved face detection, eye detection and 3D tracking AF.
5-Axis Image Stabilization – The brand claims that it is the world’s first technology in interchangeable digital camera and can compensate every blur. It also has powerful IS for macro shooting, long-time exposure and movie shooting while walking. It also features Image Stabilization up to 5 steps of shutter speed.
Dust and Splash-proof Design – It features the smallest dust and splash-proof design in mirrorless interchangeable cameras.
