You can now get the Opera browser from the Mac App Store, provided you're over 17. Following Opera Mini's inclusion in the iOS App Store, Opera web is the first non-native browser to be included in the Mac App Store. However, for some reason, Apple's rated the product as 17+ due to “Frequent Mature/Suggestive Themes”. Granted you can definitely use Opera to find suggestive material on the internet, but Safari allows you that same option. And if Opera's red and white set up is a mature/suggestive theme, then mothers, lock your children up, there's a lot of red and white in the world.
You're going to need your parents' permission on this one
Opera’s VP of Desktop Products Jan Standal jokes, “I’m very concerned. Seventeen is very young, and I am not sure if, at that age, people are ready to use such an application. It’s very fast, you know, and it has a lot of features. I think the download requirement should be at least 18.” Opera points out that you can download their browser for Mac from their website www.opera.com and you definitely do not have to be 17+.
