Do you remember the day you got your first custom made PC? Everything was nice and shiny, it looked so amazing that it made your friends turn green or red or both? But as time passed, the novelty factor wore off and it looked a bit dull and you wished you could turn it into the best damn rig people in a 100 mile radius have ever seen?
Well, this is where PC Modding comes in and when I say PC modding, I mean just the visual side, a sort of “Pimp My Rig” if you will. But then you wonder if it’s going be expensive, cumbersome and downright irritating to do. Fret not, I'm here to tell you that this can be achieved and with minimal time, energy and money spent.
We will take this step by step on how to prepare your PC for the visual mods, as well as purchase and installation.
Step 1: Prepare the Metal Beast
First things first, make sure you have enough space in your cabinet for the mods that you need. Also take out every component that you don’t need. This will include the hard drive, graphic cards, memory, sound cards, in short everything that isn’t nailed to the motherboard. The reason for this, is that during installation we will need as much space as possible, especially if you have big hands and fingers like mine.
Also, if you have a cabinet that doesn’t have a transparent side, you can get it done by calling upon your local metal worker to cut the metal as per your specifications and install a piece of acrylic sheet. Watch the video below for an idea on how to do the case mod. You can even have custom made side panel by paying a small premium and trust me they look amazing.
Step 2: Choose your Weapon
So what kind of mods do you want to install? There are a multitude of options to choose from. You can have your choice of CCFLs, black lights, fans, LEDs, illuminated cabinet feet etc. What you want depends entirely on how much you want to spend on pimping your rig.
