Here's a big news for Adobe Photoshop enthusiasts! Photoshop Touch is now available in a version built specially for phones, Adobe's Stephen Nielson writes in an official post.
The features of Photoshop Touch on the phone are almost identical to that on the tablet. Nielson writes, “I am particularly excited about this new app because I always have my phone with me. I can be creative anywhere using the powerful tools in Photoshop Touch, even when I don’t have my tablet with me.”
Like in the tablet version, the phone version of the app comes with the most important Photoshop features like layers, advanced selection tools, adjustments and filters. Then there are features that are exclusive to Photoshop Touch smartphone app. Scribble Selection allows users to use their fingers to make precise selections on an image. Camera Fill is another feature on the app for phone that allows blending one's camera feed with layers in real-time. Other features include Color Drops and Acrylic Paint and a Ripple filter – these features, though, are present on the tablet version of the app too.
After tablets, Photoshop Touch comes to iPhones, Android smartphones
Nielson writes that using the app, users can start a project on their phone, continue with it on their tablet and add finishing touches to it on their desk using Photoshop CS6. The app will automatically keep the projects in sync on each device, at full resolution and with the layers intact. This capability is available to every customer with a free Creative Cloud account. There is no paid subscription requirement for syncing.
The iOS app will require iOS 6.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and iPod touch (5th generation). The app is optimised for iPhone 5. Android users will need devices running Android v4.0 and up.
The app came to 7-inch tablets in November last year. Adobe Photoshop Touch 1.4 brought optimisation for smaller tablet displays including the iPad Mini and Google Nexus 7. It also added new features and bug fixes for all users of the app. The update came shortly after Adobe and Amazon's earlier announcement of Photoshop Touch availability in the Amazon Appstore and support for the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD.
Photoshop Touch 1.4 brings new features and effects, which include:
- Added support for three pressure-sensitive styli for iPad: the Pogo Connect, Jot Touch and the Jaja stylus
- New ways to share completed projects to Facebook and Twitter directly from the app
- Added effects including Lens Flare and Stamp Pattern
- New performance and workflow enhancement including smoother brush strokes and new colour selection workflow
Adobe claims that the Photoshop Touch app brings the legendary creative and image-editing magic of Photoshop to tablet devices and it is now expanded to support more tablets and displays to provide customers greater flexibility to create.
Adobe Photoshop Touch 1.4 is immediately available as a free download for existing Photoshop Touch users in the iTunes App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore. New users may purchase the app for Rs 550 for iOS, while the Android version costs Rs 539.
