One of the most popular Twitter accounts in the world, UberFacts, has been hacked. Currently, it has over 6.69 million followers and has been posting nonsensical tweets for the past three hours.

The account, which provided a trivia-filled welcome break from the shouting match that is Twitter, has been posting 140-character graffiti, instead of the awesome facts. The man behind the account confirmed the development through a tweet, while at the same time warning the hacker.

Twitter user Devin Steadman has taken credit for the hack. The UberFacts account has basically been tweet homophobic and racial slurs ever since the hack, with a few spam links thrown in for fun.

In the past, Twitter has restored some accounts to their rightful owners after they have been known to have been hacked. For example, earlier this year the company restored the rather prized @N account to Naoki Hiroshima, which was hacked earlier. Hiroshima claims he had been offered as much as $50,000 for letting go of his account, before it was taken away and then restored back to him. For the time being, we suggest you mute the UberFacts account, since you can do that now, and wait for Twitter to take action.
