Even though Prince of Persia came out when Kratos was probably in his diapers there’s no denying the fact that the God of War series has emerged as the undisputed champ of action games. And in a recent interview with CVG, Jan-Erik Sjovall Ubisoft animation director for the upcoming Prince of Persia game titled The Forgotten Sands feels God of War has taken away a lot of their audience.

__STARTQUOTE__When we make questionnaires and we ask, 'what did you play in the past?' The answer's 'Prince of Persia'. 'What do you play now?' 'God of War'. 'Would you play Prince of Persia again?' 'No, it's not hard enough.__ENDQUOTE__

He goes ahead to explain the God of War’s over the top violence may have something to do with that. While true to a certain extent I wouldn’t say people play God of War only for the violence. It’s pretty much everything including story, voice acting, background score, visuals etc.

He also feels the upcoming PoP game should reclaim that audience back, something I highly doubt. Either way we’ll get to know how things play out when Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands releases on the Xbox360, PS3, PC and Wii this May.
