If you have been an iOS fan since its early days, then you would be familiar with the name Comex, the hacker behind one of the earliest jailbreaking tools for iPhones.
Nicholas Allegra, who was revealed to be Comex by a 2011 Forbes feature, was the teenager behind the JailbreakMe hacking tools for iPhone and iPad, and Apple hired Allegra in 2011 as an intern.
Apple has now parted ways with Allegra, and he will be joining Google as an intern.

Allegra told his followers of the development via his Twitter account saying that his internship spell with Google is set to begin in a matter of weeks. The tweet, which was first spotted by Forbes, did not elaborate on what Allegra’s exact role in Google would be.
Interestingly, Allegra also tweeted that the internship will not be related to development of Android, a platform that – the hacker has said in the past – doesn’t appeal to him. Another reason for the internship outside the Android team could be a non-compete clause attached to his Apple contract.
After hiring him as an intern in 2011, Apple offered to extend his employment a year later. According to Allegra, he missed the deadline for responding to an email in that regard and Apple subsequently revoked its offer.
The JailbreakMe tool was created by Allegra by exploiting loopholes in Safari. It allowed anyone to jailbreak an iOS device in a single step and didn’t require an active connection with a computer.
Users of jailbroken devices have since been able to use unofficial apps on their iPhones and can even customise the appearance of the interface to a certain extent.
Released in 2007, the first version of JailbreakMe hacked the iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 1.1.1 and was developed by nine anonymous hackers. The second version of the hack was released by Comex in 2010 and allowed users to jailbreak iOS 3.1.2 to 4.0.1 on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. A subsequent version, JailbreakMe 3.0, released in 2011 was the first hack to jailbreak the iPad 2.
