Apple’s iPhone 4 is yet to follow the iPad’s route and hit India, but there are rumours of the iPhone 5 flying around already. While earlier it was about cheaper versions of the iPhone, now it’s about their latest smartphone, the iPhone 5 having a slide-out keyboard.
AppleInsider claims Apple will be introducing three iPhone prototypes where one has a keyboard and another which will look mostly like the iPhone 4 but with a better camera and a stronger battery life. There’s no mention as to what the third prototype will look or be like (let’s hope it won’t be a flying model!).
It seems that when Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone back in January 2007, he mentioned a dislike for physical keyboards with the reason being that once attached, the buttons cannot be assigned another function. This was one reason why the iPhone featured a virtual on-screen keyboard.
Like always, it’s best to take these rumours with a grain of salt. There’s no telling of what more rumours we’ll be getting on for a long time.
