It looks like the rumours about Nokia launching a 41MP Lumia smartphone are all set to come true. This after Nokia released a statement inviting the media for its New York event scheduled on July 11. Moreover, an image tweeted by Doug Dawson, Media Relations head, Nokia, with the words “ZOOM REINVENTED” has sent the tech world into believing that the rumours are true.
This has come after earlier reports had suggested a possibility of Nokia working on a Lumia smartphone, which would carry a camera of 41MP. The rumour had suggested that the Finnish mobile company could be working on a technology to develop a camera for its Lumia smartphone that could deliver high clarity picture using its “PureView” technology.
Codenamed EOS, the earlier leaked images showed a yellow colour Nokia phone, which was in line with its Lumia 920’s body but had a huge camera module. Many tech websites also believe that the new Nokia smartphone will come with a large sensor, PureView technology, xenon flash and Carl Zeiss lens assembly.
However, if this turns out to be true, Nokia could surely challenge the likes of Samsung’s S4 and Apple’s iPhone 5 in its quest to become the best in the smartphone industry.

Even though Nokia did launch numerous variants of its Lumia range of smartphones, the company has seen a steep fall in the sales of its lower-end handsets over the course of the last one quarter. It is believed that this new phone, if the rumour turns out to be true, could help in covering this deficit. Though the company has declined from commenting on this issue, a possibility of a new Lumia smartphone with a 41 megapixel camera cannot be ruled out.
