Samsung and Apple are bitter rivals in sales as well as in real life. And now it transpires that even court ordered mediation can’t resolve the deep rooted issues between the two companies! The two CEO’s met to discuss their issues, as per a court order, but could not come to any kind of agreement.

According to the tech website, AllThingsD, Samsung officials told the Korea Times that the two companies were unable to come to a clear agreement resolving their differences. Sources close to Samsung also confirmed the same AllThingsD.

US District Judge Lucy Koh had decided in April, that the two companies should sit down for talks to bring an end to the endless patent wars between them.

Samsung’s CEO along with the company’s mobile division chief Shin Jong-kyun, met with Apple boss Tim Cook and his legal team in California for nine hours on Monday and seven hours on Tuesday reports ZDNET.

According to AllThingsD,

Apple continued to insist that Samsung “slavishly” copied the design of its iPhone and iPad, while Samsung demanded that Apple pay royalties on the wireless patents it believes the company infringed. The case will go to trial on 30 June.

Samsung and Apple have previously fought a patent trial in Germany and Netherlands last year. Samsung had also claimed in a US trial that Apple had originally stolen the idea for the iPad from Stanley Kubrick’s cult film,2001: Space Odyssey which shows tablet computers, with a rectangular shape with a dominant display screen, narrow borders, a predominately flat front surface, a flat back surface (which is evident because the tablets are lying flat on the table’s surface), and a thin form factor.
