The Samsung Galaxy S was a runaway success and following the launch of a successor, the Galaxy S II, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it should come as a no surprise that people want to get their hands on the Galaxy S II as soon as possible. Expansys, an online retailer, wants to help those people – and they’ve initiated a pre-order for the upcoming smartphone.
Be careful with the image, that's a super expensive phone!
The price is a major downer though. The pre-order listing has it at 649GBP, which is around Rs. 47,500. When you consider the price increase the phone will go through before it gets here, we could very well be looking at a phone that will cost Rs. 50,000 or more. That is just insane!
I for one wouldn’t pay that kind of money for a phone, no way. I’m sure a lot of others feel the same, but Samsung’s banking on the “you have to pay for quality” mentality that a few of its prospective buyers could have. They might also be hoping people don’t care when their phones get Android updates, but that’s a totally different matter altogether.
Anyway, what do you think of the reported price? Would you pay that much for a phone, even if it’s the Samsung Galaxy S II?
