While the Samsung Galaxy S8 leak last week did not seem that exciting, Samsung may have something better for the current year after all. In what appears to be the second leak in since the start of the year, another Weibo user has hinted the launch of a so called Samsung Galaxy X, folding smartphone.
First reported by Android Soul, the news comes shortly after the first leak which claimed that Samsung would announce its first folding smartphone, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy X1, in the second half of this year.
The Weibo post by a user called ‘Reviewer’ hints that the handset will be launched in the third or the fourth quarter to be more specific. The user also adds that there will be two models, with the standard one being called the Galaxy X1 and a bigger one called the Galaxy X1 Plus.
The Samsung Galaxy X1 has been given the model number SM-X9000 while the X1 Plus get tagged as the SM-X9050.
We have been hearing about Samsung’s folding smartphone for about two years now. Codenamed ‘Project Valley’ the rumoured device is said to pack in the latest hardware along with a 4K display. Having leaked out several times via patent applications, the device, which is expected to have multiple form factors, will also feature a number of biometric authentication systems including a fingerprint reader, face reader and a palm reader as well.
