While we have seen a lot of competition in the market for low-priced Android tablets with displays in the 7-inch territory, there aren’t a lot of options if you're looking for a premium large-screen Android tablet. But Samsung is all about to fill the gap with the high-end Galaxy Tab 3 Plus. According to SamMobile, the Nexus 10 manufacturer will be bringing a 10.1-inch or 11.6-inch tablet with a full HD display. The display will be of the Super AMOLED variety, which would make it a first in the industry. Previously, the largest Super AMOLED display in Samsung’s portfolio was the short-lived Galaxy Tab 7.7.
The next-gen Galaxy Tab will have a Super AMOLED display like the Galaxy Tab 7.7
The Korean manufacturer is expected to include an Exynos 5 Octa CPU, which was introduced in the Samsung Galaxy S4. According to the report, Samsung will be readying the tablet as competition for the current Apple iPad and the new Sony Xperia Tablet Z. The Tablet Z brings a full HD display and a water and dust-proof body in a super slim package. Sony's tablet was announced earlier this month and is expected to be available in India in the coming months.
SamMobile also states the Galaxy Tab 3 Plus will be announced in September at IFA in Berlin, alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Last year, the company revealed the Note 2 and the Note 10.1 at the event.
If we were to speculate based on the Nexus 10, then the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3 Plus will have a really high-resolution screen, possibly around 2560 x 1600 pixels. We have also heard that an 11.6-inch Samsung tablet has been in the works for a while, and have seen leaked pictures last year. However, there is no indication which of these the Galaxy Tab 3 Plus will turn out to be.
At the moment, Samsung’s large tablet portfolio consists of the Galaxy Note 810 and the Galaxy Note 8.0 (Note 510 in India). Both tablets come with the S-Pen stylus. However, the Tab 3 Plus is expected to be a pure tablet without a stylus accessory. The company also has a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 in the market; it has a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.
We do not know what version of Android this tablet will be running, but since it's likely Google will unveil the next version of the OS at Google I/O in May, we can envision it running at least Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
