Not satisfied with its over-spilling cup of mid-range handsets in the market currently, Samsung is reportedly working on a refresh for its popular Galaxy Ace series. The original Galaxy Ace and its successor have both been hot sellers in the market thanks to a combination of low price and decent-mid-range specs. We can expect more of the same with the Galaxy Ace 3.
SamMobile reports that Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 will have the model number GT-S7272 and is expected to be launched towards the end of the first half of the year.
What's next in the Galaxy Ace series?
As for the specs of the Ace 3, the report says it will have 4.0-inch screen and 1.2GHz dual-core processor, which is most likely the Broadcom BC28155 CPU. The Ace 3 will allegedly have a 5 megapixel camera on the back. Other rumoured specifications of Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 are 4 GB internal storage, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 1500 mAh battery. Like most of Samsung’s recent phones, this one will also ship with Jelly Bean version of Android.
The rumour further says that the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 might be a dual-SIM smartphone, which comes as no surprise considering the last digit of the model number. As for the price, expect the Ace 3 to be around Rs 20,000 at launch. The smartphone could be available in four colours – Metallic Black, Metallic Blue, Pure White and Wine Red.
The world’s leading smartphone maker has had a history of launching a slew of mid-range handsets and flooding the market with phones that have similar specs with minor differentiations. The Ace 3 is no different in this regard. For example, the Galaxy S3 Mini, the Galaxy S2 Plus and the Galaxy Grand I9082 all have the same Broadcom BC28155 processor.
Samsung also routinely retains some specs from older devices as seen in the Ace 2, which was launched more than a year ago, but also has 5 megapixel camera, 4GB of internal storage and 1,500mAh battery. Of course, at the moment, the Galaxy Ace 3 is just a rumour so specifications could change by the time of the launch.
Without knowing anything about the design of the handset, we cannot speculate on how it might look. But it could carry on the straight-edged and rounded corners legacy of the Galaxy Ace and Ace 2 smartphones
The Korean manufacturer had also introduced the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus in January of last year, which took up a spot between 2011’s Samsung Galaxy Ace and the Ace 2.
