CES is definitely going to be something to look forward to next year, as there are some really killer products being launched. And Samsung definitely seems to be taking it to a whole new level, as they’ve already announced the launch of the world’s slimmest Blu-ray player. Samsung Mobile Display is also all set to show off a 19-inch transparent AMOLED display for TVs and monitors at the CES 2011.
This is going to be the world’s first large transparent AMOLED Display prototype, and maintains up to 30% transparency regardless of whether it’s off or on. Previously, the transparency shown on similar screens elsewhere was less than 10%, so this is quite an achievement from Samsung. This screen apparently also provides the highest resolution on a transparent large screen TV, so this is definitely something great.
Sources say that that the screen in the picture below is from the FPD-International event, and there may be changes to the one shown at CES 2011
This screen is definitely a multipurpose one, opening up a whole lot of possibilities; some that sound downright impossible such as for watching TV on windows (actual windows with panes and all and not the Windows XP/Vista type). Imagine someone walking in and looking at you staring at your window. But little do they know that you’re actually watching a movie! Once this prototype is finished, car makers will be able to install these screens on car windows as well. quite cool, huh?
