A few years back, a browser called Flock was released which focused on providing social networking services within a browser. The browser that gained some popularity during the period is going to have its plug pulled. The browser was first launched back in 2005 and was available for multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, BSD and Mac OS X. The browser will cease to exist from the 26th April, 2011. A public announcement of this move was made on their site.
The development team will now focus on building social games instead
Zynga, the company best known for Facebook games such as Farmville had bought Flock earlier this year. The support page now states that the development team will work on social games in the future. The browser will continue to function even after the 25th April,2011 but, many of its social networking service syncing features will stop functioning. There are instructures on how to export some of your feeds, and bookmarks to other browsers mentioned in the support page Links to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are provided at the bottom of the web site.
