Socialcam, the video version of Instagram developed by justin.tv has gotten quite the major update. For one, you can now add music to the videos that you're editing and sharing. The app now allows you to add background music, like a soundtrack to your videos. You can adjust the level between the music and the microphone. Music themes include Breezy, March, Deep, Happy, Action, Country, Wonder, Street, Club and Love. The update also brings new video themes to your fingertips. You can use the Journal theme to make your video look like a journal entry. There's Post Card, which as it says, makes your video look like a celebratory post card. There's Classic, which gives your video a simple 'classic' title. There's Casual, which gives your video a handwritten title. There's Travel, which adds a geo and date title. There's MTV, which gives your video the look of a music video. There's Ticker, which adds a news ticker with the title, creator, date etc. And finally, there's Reporter, which adds a lower third to your video.
Socialcam gets an update
Other inclusions in the update are Notifications when Facebook friends view your videos. You can create your Twitter account from the Socialcam app. The video quality has been increased and there are general bug fixes and performance improvements. This is version 4.0 of the app and is quite the huge change. The app is available for both, iOS and Android and according to TechCrunch, passed 3 million downloads in December. This update is the biggest for the app, since its launch, last year. Like Instagram, Socialcam creates a community around creativity and does so with video. It came out at an apt time, right when iPhone cameras were video enabled. Socialcam is free and is available from the iOS App Store and Google Play.
