We told you a while ago about Sony going after former iPhone hacker George Hotz, aka Geohot, and hacker group fail0verflow after the security on their Playstation 3 console got blown wide open. They even managed to get a temporary restraining order against Hotz, but it looks like they’re not done just yet. They’re planning on targeting the rest of the hacking community as well, with several of the well-known hackers being named in a leaked subpoena.
PSX-Scene managed to get their hands on some documents sent to github, an online source code repository. In it, Sony demand github hand over some pretty critical information about the hackers who are members of the site. It probably won't stop with just github though, several websites which these hackers are members of will likely also be subpoena'd.
Sony’s show of strength might not get them anywhere, because it really does look like the PS3 has been cracked forever. However, it will help them send a message across to the hacking scene. Still, I don’t think there ever will be a shortage of people willing to mess with them.
