When it comes to home theatre projectors, brands like Epson, Panasonic and even Dell are the ones that come to mind first. Sony, however, is not far behind and with their latest product launch it appears that they truly aim to overtake the competition in this sphere. Sony claims that they are once again ahead of the curve by going beyond HD, to offer theatre quality 4K for one’s home with the world’s first true 4K home theatre projector. The brand claims that the newly announced 3D-capable digital projector can display 4K images that provide home entertainment enthusiasts with a more immersive, engaging visual experience with over four times the resolution of Full HD.

They state that home theatre enthusiasts will be truly impressed by Sony’s flagship VPL-VW1000ES which employs an entirely new SXRD 4K panel, that produces outstanding device contrast and 2,000 ANSI-lumens of brightness. When combined with Sony's Iris3 technology, the projector can achieve a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast. Featuring these high resolutions, it can produce screen sizes of up to 200-inches (diagonally) for cinematic viewing in the comforts of the home.

In addition to supporting 4K native resolution, the VPL-VW1000ES projector also features Sony’s exclusive Super Resolution 4K upscaler called ‘Reality Creation’ that enhances all content – SD or HD, 2D or 3D – to higher definition true 4K (DCI Format: 4096 x 2160p) picture signals.
The VPL-VW1000ES also features a built-in IR transmitter for Full 4K 3D which drives the projector’s TDG-PJ1 USB-chargeable active shutter 3D glasses; picture position memory which memorizes the position of the zoom lens. Apart from the above mentioned features, it also supports 2D and 3D anamorphic films.
The VPL-VW1000ES offers a variety of installation options, including dual triggers, a 2.1 motorized zoom, expanded throw distances, an RS232 interface, control over IP and compatibility with virtually every home automation integrator. Sony’s new VPL-VW1000ES 4K home theatre projector will be available in India through accredited dealers, priced at Rs. 13,99,900.
