Square Enix has unveiled a new title for the series that made it famous—Final Fantasy. The new game in the long-running extremely popular series is numbered at 15. The game seems to have a modern-day setting with cars and guns, but with magical elements like magic and demons. Check out the first look trailer of the fighting system:
The company seems to have taken a big step away from the series' traditional turn-based battle system. Instead, the new game opts for a more free-form fighting system where you can run around and attack enemies from whatever direction you want. It might even have hack-and-slash styled combos.
A whole new battle system
The game's story centres around Noctis Lucis Caelum, who is the prince of an isolated kingdom and protector of the last crystal. The world's crystals are no longer being used and people are preferring magic-technology hybrids. With his companions, Noctis defends his homeland from barbarians who seek the crystal's gift-giving power of potentially infinite magic.
He also meets Stella Nox Fleuret, a young woman from the rival country of Tenebrae and his enemy. Their conflict is overshadowed by legends of Etro, who is the goddess of death and is primarily worshipped in Tenebrae. Her relationship with huans allows her to give magical powers like that of the crystal.
Final Fantasy 15 will be released on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
