The Angry Birds are coming, and this time they are going far, far away to the Red Planet. Rovio, the maker of Angry Birds, of the one of the most popular mobile game series has unveiled a teaser video announcing the new Angry Birds Space: Red Planet. In the video, Rovio gives an insight about what is in store. This brief teaser, which can be viewed below, aims to set a perspective story ahead of the launch. It gives glimpses of NASA's Curiosity rover making a touchdown on the Red Planet, which it did earlier this month. Only this time, as the rover makes its way on alien surface, and comes closer to a crater, it spots the birds and the pigs wreaking havoc.
According to the teaser, Angry Birds Space: Red Planet is coming this fall. However, the description provided with the video speaks of a launch on August 23, which is today! Nothing else is known at the moment, and we're playing the waiting game. Meanwhile, at the time of writing this article, the video received over 400 likes.
According to earlier reports, Rovio is working towards bringing in a little variety in the catapult-launching game with newer versions, introducing new levels, abilities, and tricks. Users may also be able to play as the pigs in the coming versions.
When Angry Birds Space was first released in March 2010, two platforms were noticeably missing, Windows Phone and BlackBerry. The original Angry Birds came to the BlackBerry platform in December of 2011, around a year and a half after the game first launched. Also, the only Blackberry device to support the game since its launch has been the Playbook. Now Angry Birds Space is selling in the BlackBerry App World only for PlayBooks for $2.99 (Rs. 149 approx.). This is interesting because this version of the game sells for the same price as the other Angry Birds versions on iOS, but in the App World Angry Birds Space is cheaper than the other versions, which sell for $4.99 (Rs. 249 approx.).
