We are about to see the next-gen Microsoft Surface very soon. The Redmond company’s event in New York City is about to get underway soon and we will be bringing you the latest from the event.

While we have very little information about the Surface 2 and the Surface Pro 2, we do know that they will be running the very latest version of Windows. The Surface Pro 2 is expected to run Windows 8.1 out of the box. The x86 systems will most likely ship with Intel’s Haswell series of processors and are expected to come with much-improved battery life. Microsoft will be hoping that the new Surface tablets will stoke interest in the range once again despite lacklustre sales of the existing models. The company shipped about a million tablets in the first three months of 2013, according to research firm IDC, a paltry figure compared to the overall market.

We have an interactive live blog here today and we’ll be bringing you tweets and pictures from the event too. Look out for fun polls. So let’s get started.
