Activision's attempt at a game based on The Walking Dead universe finally has a release date. According to Eurogamer, the game, titled The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, will be making its way to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC on March 29.

Terminal Reality has said that the Wii U version of the game will feature an interface much like that of ZombiU, where you access and manage your inventory through the GamePad.

“Where you've got different resources, you only have so much room in your backpack. Your backpack is represented by the screen, so you have access to it at all times,” effects artist Glenn Gamble explained. “So instead of hitting another screen to get your backpack you can literally just touch the item and go or flip it out to drop it. It streamlines the user interface.”

The FPS from Activision doesn't look very impressive so far

Out in March

Back in December, a trailer had popped up for Activision's FPS reimagining of The Walking Dead. After fan outcry and criticism, the company later revealed that it was not an official trailer. A fan had used old in-game footage to make his own trailer.

Activision's version of the comic book series is set to have some stealth sequences. While you do have weapons, facing the zombie horde seems to be discouraged. It also seems to feature one-hit stealth kills that have special animations, along with a wide variety of melee weapons, including fire axes, sledgehammers, baseball bats and knives. The game is set to come out in 2013.

The other adaptation of The Walking Dead was by Telltale. It is a part episodic game series set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic books featuring Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes. This is not another shoot ‘em up; it’s a game that explores some very dark psychological places, revealing that the undead are not the only thing to be afraid of when society crumbles.

In this brand new story, you are Lee Everett, a man given a second chance at life in a world devastated by the undead. With corpses returning to life and survivors stopping at nothing to maintain their own safety, protecting an orphaned girl named Clementine may offer him redemption in a world gone to hell.

The main selling point of the game is that you have to make choices at certain points; these choices then effect how the rest of the story plays out and has far reaching consequences for every character in the group of survivors.
