Ahead of the much-awaited Season 7 release of HBO’s Game of Thrones, Catch Digital has launched GotBot, a chatbot on Facebook Messenger designed to answer all show related queries and character sketches of even minor characters, most would have forgotten.

With over 150 major characters in the show, the chatbot uses an Artificial Intelligence (AI) framework called Wit.ai, enabling it to learn from users and connect them with Game of Thrones information gathered from popular Google searches. Catch claims that the idea of the bot started as a game of “dead or alive” with characters in the show before blooming into a more comprehensive chatbot that can provide information related to family trees, nicknames, a character’s house, and more.

The chatbot also throws in a wide number of jokes and gifs to attract attention. The GotBot is also intelligent enough to understand when a question strays beyond show’s boundaries, staying clear of fan-based theories and rumours.

Catch’s Founder and Managing Director, Jonathan Smith said, “With 1.2 billion monthly active users on Facebook Messenger, the potential audience for chatbots is huge. We knew we wanted to create a Facebook chatbot and wanted to get our clients excited about the future of AI and how it might benefit their business. What better way to do so than creating our very own chatbot? And who doesn’t like Game of Thrones?”

If you are a GoT fan, this one’s a must download! Talking about downloads, simply type Game of Thrones chatbot in your Facebook Messenger app’s search bar or click here to head straight to the bot.
